I thought this sent last week... My bad XD Well I've done it, I've killed Elder Abbott. It's been a good 6 weeks and I'm sure gonna miss him. It was honestly a lot harder to kill someone than I expected, but I'm excited for the guy. If any of you know/are a nice young single lady who has a burning testimony of the restored gospel and wants to go on a date with a nice young RM then I can hook you up 😉. It's crazy how much the mission changes someone. I think the trick is keeping changed, the mission will change you but the world will do the same if you let it. It's a hard thing... Oh well Ive still got a year to figure it out so I'm good 😊 Well nothing too crazy happened this week, I went on an exchange with Elder Mills, and Elder Topham this week! They are pretty dope, I came out with Elder Mills and he is an assistant right now so thats cool. He is a super smart kid who was the valedictorian in Heber, he studies like a mad man and gave me some pointers so thats awesome. Elder Topham is fresh off the boat here in Beaumont. He's from good ol Mona UT. He's a super sweet kid, when the scriptures talk about those who are "pure in Heart" that's definitely this kid. Just a super fun, meek homie. Love that kid 🤠 One thing that's been really satisfying over this last transfer is being able to work with the stake president really closely. We meet every week and talk about how the zone and the stake are doing and we've seen a lot of good from it. Today was transfer day and I got Elder Larson as my new companion! I was in the MTC with him and he is such a good missionary. Some really good things are coming this transfer I'm excited. Well I don't have a ton of time today to write because of transfers but I love all of you and hope your doing well! Elder Robison

Man... I don't think a lot of you understand the amount of joy that comes from doing the Lord's work every day. It's the greatest feeling to look back at a week well spent in service and have the spirit testify to you that this is His work. Oh how great is our calling! I say our because every member a missionary 😏 I have a testimony of D&C 18:15-16, there is more joy found in serving God than in any other work. It's a small taste of the fulness of joy that our Heavenly Father experiences as he "brings to pass the immortality and eternal life of" his posterity. I'm so grateful for the blessing it is to be able to be a tool in His hand to accomplish his work. If your having a hard time finding happiness in life, live and share the gospel. "and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren." You are your first convert, so get converted, and share it with everyone. 😊 Alright there is my shpeal for the day The highlights of this week are as follows: 1) We got to blitz Port Arthur for 2 days and be on changes with those homies down there. Port Arthur is for the most part pretty ghetto. It's got a lot of homeless people and the downtown city is completely abandoned and rundown. So it was fun to be back in the streets and preach to our less fortunate bruddas. 2) Ive realized I must have some SWEET blood because these skeeters down here sure do love me. Hopefully I don't get Zika or something but man, if anyones got any tips or tricks on how not to be a 24 hour mosquito buffet than please let me know. 😩 3)Friday we got to go the temple and do baptisms for the dead with a returning member named Hans DeWitt and our recent convert Patrick Perera! It was so good, Patrick got baptized for his father and his grandpa and he felt really happy afterwards. He was also able to bless the sacrament for the first time this week which was legit. He only had to do it twice, even though he's not a very good reader. He's progressing so much in the gospel its ridiculous. The Lord knows exactly what he's doing. 4) To finish off the week we were able to go back to Silsbilly (Silsbee+hillbilly=Silsbilly) and I was able to perform the baptism for Sadie Musten! 😁After being found and taught for 4 months or so she finally was baptized a member this last Saturday and confirmed the day after. She is such a sweet girl, I hope she stays with it. Well everyone those are the highlights of the week. Miss you all and hope no one's house burns down back home Elder Robison This was a pretty jam packed week, we had MLT, District Training, and exchanges.
Monday night we loaded up the DL's in the mini van and headed for Kingwood. We stopped at Buccees, which is the biggest gas station youve ever seen. its probably got 70 or 80 gas pumps and the bathrooms are ginormous. its definitely a Texas sized gas station. I love the south MLT on Tuesday was pretty good, nothing too crazy happened. President Hewlett talked about the significance of the first vision and how the world just going to get worse and more nasty before the second coming. Its kind of scary how the work is hastening and the "great and terrible day of the Lord" is coming closer. We talked a lot about the new book the Saints. We talked about the previous history of the churches by Joseph Smith and B. H. Roberts and the significance that they are releasing another one in narrative form. The book is very good and captivating i would encourage all of you to start reading it if you haven't yet. I think its only 5 bucks on the LDS store so thats definitely worth it. Its also on the gospel library app. Ive learned a ton about church history. Im excited to have people try and confound me so i can expound the scriptures unto them and bring them to the knowledge of the truth. :) District Training was fun we got to go from Beaumont to Woodville in one day and see the whole zone :) its a good time, kinda stressful but a good time. I went on exchanges to Woodville and trio'd it up with Elder Mickelson and Elder Olsen! We went to this really pretty lake with a little community around it called Ivanhoe. i wish i would have taken a picture but i forgot. it reminded me of Rockport just not in a mountain. :( I spoke in the YSA this week and i was the closing speaker. It only ended up needing to be about 10 minutes long so i just free balled it. My brain shuts off as soon as i get up to the pulpit, i couldnt even remember where the BoM talked about the Fall of Adam and Eve :( its 2Nephi 2 by the way. I want to be a much better speaker than i am. Every week gets faster and faster and this next one is not going to be any exception. The mission is flying by, but i love it :) Love you all! Have a good week Elder Robison What a marvelous week and a wonder, we ate some dang good food, made someone a candidate for the celestial kingdom, and had zone conference.
We will start at the baptism Here is the story of Patrick Perera: once upon a time there were some sister missionaries in the town of Lumberton Texas. They knocked on his door one day and he let them in. Over the next couple of weeks they taught Patrick all about the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. He loved it, and wanted to be baptized. Around this time the sisters faithful District Leader (me) realized Patrick was young, single, and an adult. So I made the sisters refer dear Patrick to the Beaumont YSA elders and they proceeded to teach Patrick the gospel. It took awhile. But eventually Patrick was put on date to be baptized. Meanwhile there was a transfer in the mission and I moved to the Beaumont YSA with Elder Abbot. 3 weeks passed and we continued to fellowship him and teach him the gospel and then on September 1st,he was baptized into the church. We are taking him to the temple on the 14th so thats gonna be sick 🤘 To celebrate for Patricks baptism we went out to this super good place called Tia Juanita's and had grilled shrimp quesadillas, super good. Then later in the day, I used my electrician skills and fixed this members light. So he bought us dinner at Logans Roadhouse 😛 I love food in Texas ☺️ And we had zone conference! Our segment we did was actually really good. We are helping the zone build better member relations and so we gave them a bunch of ideas. Well I gotta go but I love you all and hope you all have a great week! Elder Robison Wow what a crazy week, life is pretty great on a mission, and this week was definitely not an exception. Here are some highlights:
We started playing basketball every morning with the other Beaumont elders and wow is it hard to make buckets at 6:30 in the morning. All motor functions are impaired that early in the morning but as we keep doing it, I can feel myself being more awake morning after morning. So that's cool 😎 maybe this will be the key to losing the Texas 30 😅 We had a really good institute lesson on Temple Clothing (we are studying Exodus) and it answered so many questions I had. It's so cool to learn about the traveling tabernacle and law of Moses and stuff. It all makes so much sense when you've been through the temple and it makes me want to go every week. I wish I was as smart as the institute teacher, it's so cool how knowledgeable he is about the gospel. And he gets PAID to be knowledgeable about the gospel. I want to do that. We were tracting out an apartment complex and just being rejected right and left; then, we knocked on the next door and a nice 20ish year old lady opened the door and smiled at us! She smiled at us! That just doesn't happen. Anyway we talked to her and gave her our shpeal about how something wonderful happened and it will bring great joy and direction into her life and how we would love to come in and share it with her and she let us in! Her and her boyfriend and there 9 month old baby sat down with us and we shared the message of the restoration with them. It was so perfect, they were asking really great questions and we answered all of them. They committed to read and pray about it and as of today they have read EVERYDAY since then! That's better than some members haha, so it's exciting hopefully they will accept the spirit and agree that the Book of Mormon is true. OH we got to serve at a food tasting event thingy. We served church peanut butter and apples. It was good publicity for the church. I was able to go on an exchange back to Silsbee this week. It was fun to be back and see some old faces again. Brother Whitt received the Melchizedek Priesthood this last Sunday and his granddaughter Sadie is going to be baptized on the 15th of September. They are such great people. We had the opportunity to go to the Mission Presidents Fireside this Sunday with some of our YSA homies 🤘 it was sweet we got to ride to Kingwood in this gnarly ram 1500, it was the 5.7 and was straight piped and had a chip in it, man it was a nice truck. But the fireside was nicer than the truck haha. This couple spoke about their conversion which was really powerful. The husband was born and raised in a Catholic family and went to catholic seminary to become a priest. But he always had some questions and some doubts that filled his mind. Then one day there good family friends gave them a missionary referral card and told him to call them for the answers. I think you know what happened after that. 😊 Plus I got to see a bunch of my friends there and see how they are doing. We also had a meeting with President Hewlett and all the Ward mission leaders from the Beaumont Stake and man that was an interesting experience. It's crazy how oblivious people are about the programs and the responsibilities of members and missionaries. The Beaumont Stake has some pretty bad preconceived notions about missionaries and looks at us as a huge burden while we are actually trying our best to bless them. When one missionary is bad it makes a bad name for all missionaries. So tomorrow at Zone Conference me and Elder Abbott get to give an 80 minute segment on how we can effectively build the trust of the wards and the members. Hopefully it all comes together pretty well. OH also did I mention that my companion Elder Abbott goes him at the end of this transfer and it's been a struggle to get his mind off of going home. He's doing my plan right now. Wreck me 😣 I thought I'd give some of you a taste of an average day in the life of a missionary. My average day goes something like this for those who may wonder. Wake up at 6:30 and roll out of bed onto my knees. Struggle to get up and put work out clothes on. We then either just go for a walk or go play basketball or something. Come back, eat cereal or eggs or a smoothie or something. Shower, shave, put on proselyting clothes. Then we get to study the Scriptures for an hour. Then we plan out what we are going to do that day for 30 minutes. We usually try and visit some LA members from 10-12 but usually just end up tracting instead. By 10 o clock it's about 90 degrees and 90 percent humidity so we are sweating buckets by lunch time. We come back at 12 and eat lunch for 30 minutes, then we do Companionship study for an hour. We usually call some Companionship in our zone around then to try and help them with something they struggle with. Then we go back out and usually have a lesson or two scheduled from 2-4 but if not, it's visiting LA or former investigators or tracting. Sometime between 4-9 we have dinner for an hour and there is usually some YSA activity we get to go to like institute or FHE or ultimate Frisbee or something at 7. We are back home by 9 and evaluate our day, report a bunch of numbers to the AP's and call all the District leaders to see how the zone is doing. THE mission has a LOT of Google sheets that we fill out every night. It's seriously like a business, everything is so organized and we all have to be in sync or else President will think we are struggling. Then we go to bed at 10:30 and start it all over again. There's a taste of a day in the life of a missionary. Well your welcome mom for the long email 😘 love you all! Have a good week! Elder Robison Man oh man this is going to be a good transfer haha. My companion Elder Abbott is super fun and crazy. He reminds me a lot of Mckay, hes tall, blonde, he balls up, and he acts a lot like him. So we have had a good time. He's pretty dang trunky though he goes home this transfer so he's going through my plan and its getting him super trunky. Oh well
Being in the YSA is super fun. The branch only has like 30 active members but there are some pretty cool members. It's weird being with people my age haha I view them as older than me but I'm older than a lot of them so it's weird. But I love it, everytime we see someone who is young and probably single we run and go talk to them. This week we were tracting out an apartment complex near campus and we knocked on this guys door who wasn't interested but gave us water and was moving. So we offered to help him and he told us to come back on Friday! So we did and he was asking us all of these questions and him and his girlfriend took us out to eat at this delicious Mexican restaurant afterwards it was pretty sweet. So we get to go to FHE on Monday night's, institute on Tuesdays, sports activity on Fridays, and two sacrament meetings on Sunday. It's the best. I love it. We've got two people on date right now and one of them is super solid. He fits right in with a lot of the YSA Kids. He's a scrawny Asian kid who like Pokemon and anime, everyone loves him haha. Well that's about it for me folks. I love you all, thanks for the emails. Elder Robison Road Trippin'
Well this was a pretty sweet week, we got to go to Houston 3 times this week! Wednesday we got to go down to Kingwood to do new missionary certification and my son passed! It's a test of role plays to see if they are able to teach well and he passed! So that means I did an okay job training him 😊 On Thursday we went to the temple as a mission and did a session. It was really nice, the Houston Temple is really pretty. Then on Friday we were able to go to the temple again to do baptisms with Michael and Susan Whitt! We reactivated them and it was the first time Michael had ever been there. It was a really good experience. Love you all and I hope you have a good week. Sorry this email is lame but we are having a zone P day so yeah. Love you all! Elder Robison Hello family and friends! Today is a short P day so that's super awesome 👎so this is probably going to be a short email.
But this next week is going to be sweet, we are going to the temple for baptisms on Friday, Endowments on Thursday, and Missionary Certification meeting Wednesday so lots of fun stuff is coming up. But this last week was good! I got to go on Exchanges with the Zone Leaders to the YSA and that was fun. We played ultimate Frisbee for a branch activity and I invited these random homies to come play with us and they did! We had like 20 people playing Ultimate it was a good time. I sweat a lot 😥 while we were tracing there was a bunch of furniture set out by the dumpster so we put the good stuff in the van and I redecorated the Silsbee apartment. Exchanges are a good time. We had 2 of our people at church this week so that was sweet. We are working with a guy who had his records removed a few years ago and we have had some great spiritual lessons with him this week. He is progressing really well. Well that's all the time I have everyone... Sorry Love you all! Elder Robison Hello family and friends!
This week has been great! We had a lot of funny experiences knocking doors all day. People are hilarious. This 90 year old man was role playing Adam and eve partaking of the fruit and it was hilarious. As Adam he said, "if you gonna die I'm gonna die with you, give me gat fruit." funny stuff Well we have a great ward and we have some great plans this next week to get our people to church. OH highlight of the week, this 14 yr old girl we have been trying to work with for a long time and asked if I would Baptize her when she's ready. It's going to be awhile but she asked me to come back to Baptize her when she's ready. Well the whole zone is here for P day so I'm going to go now. Love you all! I'm with my favorite companion right now. Elder Toledo (he wrote that) That's all folks. See you next week! Elder Robison Basic
Instructions Before Leaving Earth Well how is everyone doing!? Thanks to those who emailed me this week (Sammy, Mom, and Dad ) haha sounds like the sun is still shining in Utah. I wish it didn't shine quite so bright down here in Tejas but that's okay. I need to sweat a bunch to try and work off all of this delicious food we eat everyday. Fried fish is one of my new favorite foods. Fish , coleslaw, Tarter sauce mixed with ketchup and Slap Yo Mamma™ seasoning, and Texas Toast. Yummy Well this week has been pretty sick! Not sick like but like We have been finding a bunch of people to teach and have been teaching like 3 or 4 lessons everyday so that's been really good. We thought we had a bunch of solid people who were going to come to church this week but only one of them came. So that was sad. But we are still inviting and they will come eventually. Here are some highlights of the week: » For District Training we anointed our eyes with mud (like Moses and Enoch) and washed it out so we could see through the things holding us back from being excellent missionaries. And we also learned about Shekinah. Cool stuff look it up 🕎 in the BD » I went on another exchange with Elder Olsen and we power washed a trailer and wrestled some goats. We did a bunch of farm work as well. We moved a chicken coupe and caught all of the chickens to put them back in. Catching chickens is just as hard as you think it is but it was a ton of fun. Also I found a cow skull that was pretty gnarly. » I gave a mini talk at this ward missionary coordination meeting. The Bishopric and a representative from each auxillary was there as well as the ward missionaries. We talked about some goals and things that we need to be doing better at. Throughout my mission I have only received one legitimate member referral, just 1. That's pretty ridiculous. And I ask everyone for referrals, like literally everyone. "A great indicator of one’s personal conversion is the desire to share the gospel with others. For this reason the Lord gave an obligation to every member of the Church to be missionaries” (The Teachings of Howard W. Hunter) There really aren't any excuses for not sharing the gospel. Excuses are just lies from the adversary. Satan would have you and me believe that we cannot succeed in sharing the gospel. He lies to us. In fact, he is the father of all lies. Do not listen to him. Listen to the prompting of the Holy Ghost, and then act in faith in sharing the gospel. -President M. Russell Ballard So if you haven't been sharing the gospel here are some things I would suggest you start doing: 1. Pray for the opportunity to share the restored gospel with someone 2. Carry a Book of Mormon or a family proclamation to the world card or some form of literature with you always. When the Lord sees that your ready he will give you the chance to try it. 3. Talk to everyone, being introverted and shy is definitely a hard obstacle to overcome, but it is an obstacle that needs to be overcome. Pray for strength 4. Prayerfully set a date by which time you WILL have someone prepared to meet with the missionaries. As you work toward that goal and become desperate to reach it, you will be given the opportunity to do so. » I found a new favorite Hymn! It's no. 230 Scatter Sunshine In a world where sorrow Ever will be known, Where are found the needy And the sad and lone, How much joy and comfort You can all bestow, If you scatter sunshine Ev’rywhere you go. [Chorus] Scatter sunshine all along your way. Cheer and bless and brighten Ev’ry passing day. Scatter sunshine all along your way. Cheer and bless and brighten Ev’ry passing day 2. Slightest actions often Meet the sorest needs, For the world wants daily Little kindly deeds. Oh, what care and sorrow You may help remove, With your songs and courage, Sympathy and love. 3. When the days are gloomy, Sing some happy song; Meet the world’s repining With a courage strong. Go with faith undaunted Thru the ills of life; Scatter smiles and sunshine O’er its toil and strife. Don't worry, be happy Elder Robison |
