Over lunch one afternoon, Jeff was telling me a story about a time when he was five years old. He loved riding a Honda 50 up at his grandparents’ house in Montpelier near Bear Lake.
He wanted his own Honda 50 so badly that he asked his dad if he could buy a Honda 50. His dad told him they cost $500, but that he would be willing to pay half of the cost. Undeterred, Jeff had a little gorilla bank with some coins and dollar bills in it, and he carried his bank across the street and down a few blocks to the Honda dealer. When he arrived, there were some men talking amongst themselves, but they didn’t really pay attention to Jeff (since he was only five years old), and so he walked over to find the Honda 50. And lo and behold, it still had a key in it. So he put his gorilla bank up on the counter and went over to the Honda 50 and pushed it out of the dealership. He got across the street and started walking home, pushing the motorcycle down the street, when his dad came along from the house and asked him, “Jeff. What are you doing?“ Jeff responded that he had just purchased a motorcycle, but his dad said he had to return it. So obediently, he turned the bike around and pushed it back into the dealership.
