2/6/2016 Mom just dropped me off at the slc airport & it's the greatest feeling being here again knowing I'm about to embark on another freaking rad adventure! I got to security & gave the dude my boarding pass, he says, "how old are you?" I say "20" he says "can I see an ID" as he proceeds to hold my ID up to my face & make sure I'm really me... like umm okay I do not look that young mister!! Lol. Anyway, I got to my gate in about two seconds to find out I am the first one here with about two hours to spare. Better safe than sorry right? Also, I've always found it weird that they give complimentary peanuts on airplanes. Like, so many people are allergic to peanuts it's just weird ya know? Maybe that's why they also have cookies & pretzels as an option now too. Well there's your thought of the day! You're welcome. Okay, I am now in Portland! I've always wanted to go to Portland. I think I need to come back tho cuz I can't seem to get my "Portland fix" through the airport windows. Lol;) traveling alone isn't too bad, actually it's not bad at all! I'm kinda enjoying this time... so far. I'll report back after my 11+ hour flight to Tokyo! Psych! I am no longer alone. I just met up with some of my team here at pdx *holla* they are rad & I am pumped! A little jealous cuz while I was here at the airport for 3 hours while they went to downtown Portland & got voodoo donuts, ugh. Whatever, I'm over it. 2 hours left on this 11 hour flight & I haven't slept a blink. *crying* Finally got to Manila!! But we haven't left the airport cuz we are going on another flight to Cebu. I got a little bit of shut eye so that's good. When we got to Cebu we took a 3 hour drive crammed in a van to a ferry. Along the way we stopped to take pictures of the beautiful sunrise & stopped again to get some different sweet breads & warm rolls from the bakery. So yummy. It was a nice drive with AC & a view. When we finally got to batayan island we checked into our little huts (aka hotel) & ate lunch then spent the rest of the day swimming at the beach & exploring the island! We were all exhausted by the end of the day so we ate dinner at a random buffet with lukewarm food & then hit the hay at 6:30. Lol Ps. It's so hot!!!!!!

We had our first health screening today!! Mostly people came in to get their eyes checked but also a few cleft pallet babies. We would check them in, have them take a vision acuity test, & then get checked by the doctor. Right now we are just doing the screenings to see what surgeries need to be done (mostly cataract) & in a few days they will be getting the surgeries. Help & proof eyewear (the company here with us that donated money to help) are covering all the surgeries! It's really amazing that some of these kids/adults literally can't see (or hardly at all) & in a few days their lives will be completely changed! Anyway, the screening lasted from 8 to 2 & then we wandered the streets for a bit & got some baked goods. I didn't know Filipinos were into bread. Lol Seriously they have so many bakery's here with so many different sweet breads & random goods, all very yummy. We then headed back to our "hotel" & swam in a cave, got fish pedicures, & just relaxed by the pool. Then we headed back out to the other side of the island to watch the sunset & eat dinner. We went to this BBQ place that legit only served chicken & rice but OMG it was the best chicken & rice I have ever had. Oh yeah, so there is this couple here with us from Kauai that got their trip paid for by proof eyewear to pretty much come here & kinda promote their business. It's really interesting & I don't totally understand it but basically they are insta famous & are here for proof taking pictures & being adventurous & getting paid for it.. so I get to watch the behind the scenes of their insta posts & that's kinda fun. Good day. Also pics r coming I just have zero service on this island so once we leave to our other location (tomorrow) I can send those. I haven't been able to post my sweet snapchats either. Ugh come to me wifi. We had our first health screening today!! Mostly people came in to get their eyes checked but also a few cleft pallet babies.
