July 2019 Church History Tour with Anthony Sweat
- Day 1: Thursday July 18th Arrive at Syracuse airport at 5:11pm Free hotel shuttle from the airport Hotel: Double Tree by Hilton, Syracuse NY Dinner at 7:00 pm Meet and greet/welcome dinner -
- Day 2: Friday July 19th 7:50 AM - Board bus for Fayette, NY 8:00 AM - Bus departs 9:00 AM - Arrive at Whitmer Farm (1 Hour drive) 10:30 AM – Depart for Harmony PA (2 hour 15 min drive) 12:30 PM – Stop for lunch at Great Bend of I-81 and Highway 101 (Tim Horton’s, McDonalds, Burger King) 1:45 PM – Arrive at Harmony PA Priesthood Restoration site 4:00 PM – Depart for Syracuse and go through Colesville (and pull bus over but don’t get out) 6:45pm – Arrive at hotel (Double Tree Syracuse) 7:00pm -- Dinner
- Day 3: Saturday July 20th 7:50 AM - Board bus for Palmyra 8:00 AM - Bus departs to the Hill Cumorah (1 hour drive from Syracuse to Palmyra) 9:00 AM – Hill Cumorah (give 20-30 in VC/bathroom while I reserve seats for Pageant) 9:30 AM – Walk to top of hill (20 min message) 10:25 AM – Drive to sacred grove 10:30 AM – Arrive in Sacred grove (meet at benches, request to reserve); message about 1st vision 11:00 AM – Wander/ponder time (half hour) 11:30 AM – Meet in visitors center for log and frame house tour 12:30 PM – Lunch downtown Palmyra (Nimas Pizzeria; Mark's Pizzeria [call in pizza before hand]; Sesame Chicken at Chinese place good) 1:30 PM – Grandin Bookstore 2:30 PM - Drive to Palmyra Cemetery - Alvin Smith Grave (turn North on Church Street) 3:00 PM - Drive to Martin Harris Farm - Discussion of Sections 3, 10 (show on bus; no bathrooms) 3:30 PM – Drive over to Palmyra Temple to take pics (but no ordinance sessions) 4:00 PM – Check in and rest 6:30 PM – Dinner at Mark’s Pizza 7:30 PM -Board Bus to Go over for Pageant
- Day 4: Sunday July 21st 9:30 AM Church 11:00 AM Checkout and board bus) 11:15 AM Depart to drive to Niagara (1 hr 45 min drive) 12:15 PM Stop for lunch in Batavia (1 hour from Palmyra) 1:00 PM Depart from Niagara Falls 2:00 PM – Arrive in Niagara go to falls Maid of the Midst/shop 4:00 PM – Depart Niagara and drive to Cleveland (3 hours) 7:30 PM -- Check into hotel Holiday Inn Cleveland Northeast--Mentor 7:30 PM -- Dinner
- Day 5: Monday July 22nd 8:45 AM - Board bus for Isaac Morley Farm 9:00 AM – Arrive Isaac Morley Farm - Ask for 15 minutes at the school house. June 1831 conf. 10:00 AM – Depart for Kirtland Village 10:15 AM – Tour Historic Kirtland 12:00 PM – Lunch 1:30 PM – Kirtland Temple 3:00 PM – Drive to John Johnson home (45 min drive) 4:00 PM – John Johnson home tour 5:00 PM – Drive back to Kirtland 6:00 PM – Dinner at hotel
- {Logistics for tomorrow - all luggage stays on the bus, just bring a backpack or carry-on for the plane. Should pack whatever you need for 24 hours.}
Day 6: Tuesday July 23rd 7:00 AM -- Checkout and drive to Cleveland airport for a flight to Kansas City (Flight leaves Cleveland at 8:55 am and arrives in St. Louis at 9:30. Flight departs St. Louis at 10:30 and arrives in Kansas City at 11:40 am) 12:00 pm Lunch at the airport 1:00 PM - Drive to Independence (Go on I-435 and stop to see Kansas City Temple). 2:00 PM – Arrive in Independence go to Temple Lot 2:30 PM – RLDS Temple 3:00 PM – LDS Visitors Center 4:30 PM – Drive to Liberty Jail 5:00 PM – Liberty Jail 7:00 PM – Dinner at hotel- Stoney Creek - Day 7: Wednesday July 24th - 7:00 AM – Stuff to Bus 7:30 AM – Depart for Far West (1 hour; I-35 N, east highway 116; N on State Highway D) 8:30 AM – Arrive in Far West Temple Site 9:00 AM – Depart Far West for Adam Ondi Ahman (J to Highway 6 through Gallatin, North on 13) 10:00 AM – Adam Ondi Ahman 10:30 AM – Depart for Nauvoo (North on 13, east on 136) 1:00 PM – Stop in Memphis MO for lunch (Pizza Hut; Grocery Store with Deli/Tenders; Summer BBQ) 2:00 PM – Depart to Nauvoo (1 hour 15 min) 3:15 PM – Arrive in Nauvoo go to Kimball/Main to park and explore (Homes close at 5pm) 3:30 PM – Red Brick Store RLDS 4:30 PM – Historic Nauvoo (2 hours) 6:30 PM – Depart to hotel Comfort Suites in Burlington 7:30 PM – Dinner at hotel
- Day 8: Thursday July 25th - 9:00 AM – Board bus 9:15 AM – Arrive at Nauvoo Temple 10:00 AM – Nauvoo Temple session (or baptisms) 12:00 PM – Lunch and free time on your own to shop 3:00 PM – Drive to Carthage 3:30 PM – Arrive Carthage Jail 4:30 PM – Depart Carthage for hotel 5:30 PM – Dinner at hotel 7:00 PM – Depart hotel back to Nauvoo 7:30 PM – Fairgrounds 8:30 PM – Nauvoo Pageant 10:00 PM – Back to hotel
- Day 9: Friday July 26th - 10:00 AM Checkout and on bus and drive to St. Louis (3 hour 15 min drive from hotel to St. Louis) 1:30 PM St. Louis BBQ Lunch farewell (At His and Hers BBQ) 3:00 PM Depart to airport 3:30 PM Check into airport 5:50 PM – Depart St. Louis, MO Airport 11:15PM – Arrive in SLC
The Hill Cumorah Pageant has more than 1000,000 visitors every year and traces its roots back to the early 1920s. The pageant features more than 700 cast members, 1,300 costumes, and a 10-level stage. Incredible.
