3/29/22 - Left Baton Rouge, LA / Destination Dallas, TX or beyond
We slept in a church parking lot (again) in the outskirts of Baton Rouge and woke up to a misty fog. After breakfast we set off again. We crossed the Mississippi (which we always get excited about) and continued on through Louisiana country and swamp land. Spring has sprung there! Or is currently springing… it was so green. We needed a break in Shreveport, LA so we stopped at a park to play and have lunch. We stayed an hour and a half and then it was back to the road. We drove about 30 minutes and then were diverted off of the highway by police. There was a semi on fire ahead. Firemen were there and it looked to be under control though smoking a lot still. It was during that detour that we crossed state lines into Texas. Crossing state lines is exciting too. We were shooting for Dallas but open to going further depending on how every one was doing. There was only one thing on our agenda while driving through Texas. Visit Buc-ees! I mean we need gas anyway, might as well fill up at a travel superstore Buc-ees. |
I went to one once when I visited my sister in San Antonio and thought Nick and the boys might appreciate the experience too. We stopped at one just before Dallas. After that we made the call to stop for the night at a hotel!!! We mostly needed showers, but after a of month sleeping in the van a little more space sounded so nice.
