A few days ago, our campsite neighbors recommended we take the kids to Robbie’s Marina to feed the tarpon. We mentioned that we were thinking about going their to our Utah friends (The Spruance’s) last night and invited them to join us. They decided to come and we met them there this morning at about 10:30 am. It was a cute little fisherman’s warf with little shops and restaurants. We went to the dock first. There was a small fee to go on the dock and we also bought a pail of fish to feed the fish. They warned us that the Pelicans get aggressive trying to steal the fish. They were not kidding! It was a little intimidating to Ozzy and Fitz (Pelicans are very big birds.) They were not in to it at first. You had to be on your guard the whole time because of the Pelicans. Nick actually got bit by one (which drew blood) that was trying to grab the fish out of his hands! But they eventually warmed up and chose to be brave and I was so proud of them. I’m glad they did because some manatees also came to get free food. It was so cool to see them up close. They are the weirdest but strangely cute animals. We spend 30 minutes or so out there on the dock. It was a fun experience. It was too early to eat and we weren’t there to shop, so we made our way back to the parking lot. Along the way we found some fun |
things to look at. They had an old motorcycle to play on and “ride” which Fitz loved and old boat parts everywhere. When we got back to the van and started driving back everyone fell asleep. We had decided to go back to the Spruance’s resort so we were meeting them there, but we stopped to pick up a key lime pie to share on our way. We ended up spending most of the rest of the day at the resort with them. We started on the private resort beach. It was the most calm and beautiful blue water with water toys everywhere to play with. Ozzy and Fitz paddled around on a kayak and also took a ride on a huge water bike with Dad and Clint. We spent a few hours there and had lunch as well (we snuck in Dominos pizza.) Then we headed over to the pool section. It was SO hot so getting in the pool felt really nice. Ozzy of course loved it and Fitz had a great time as well. It felt like we were there for a couple more hours. There was a huge water fall into the pool and it was a fun nice environment. When we were all sufficiently water logged we got out and went to a grassy outdoor games area and ate the Key Lime Pie together. It was delicious! We started to wind down and made our way back to the van after that. We said our goodbyes and then drove back to camp. Back at camp we had some dinner, The boys rode their bikes and then watched a show while Nick and I cleaned up and did dishes. Then it was time for showers, bed, and bath. Everyone fell right to sleep, happy and exhausted.
