3/31/22 - Santa Rosa, NM / Stop in Albuquerque, NM / Destination unknown
Well Ozzy woke up this morning and let us know he was “SO cold last night!” Nick and I both checked on him and Fitz throughout the night and he never came to us, but I guess he just toughed it out. We fed the kids and dressed them before taking off to Albuquerque two hours away. We texted next door neighbor friend Peggy to see if we could say a quick hello but she had a procedure at the hospital today and we were just barely going to miss her before she had to leave. We drove to see Nick’s old house and neighborhood anyway and as we passed by Peggy came outside! She hadn’t left yet so we got to chat for a few minutes before she did. After visiting with her we drove around to see Nicks old elementary school and landed at a park for the kids to play at. As we walked across the field Nick realized it was a park he used to have soccer practice at. We stayed there a while and then left to get fuel and food before leaving Albuquerque. It was a full circle moment seeing our kids playing at the dance park Nick would |
come to as a kid. We stayed there a while and then left to get fuel and food before leaving Albuquerque. We were back on the road. We wanted to stop by the Four Corners Monument on our way, but we realized we would get there just after they closed unfortunately so we decided not to take that detour. We pushed on stopping only for gas and a couple quick bathroom breaks. We passed through Cortez, CO and picked up a pizza for dinner just passed there and kept pushing on. We decided to go to Moab. Stay there tonight on BLM land and finish with a half day tomorrow. We all cheered when we crossed state lines in to Utah. We’re almost home! Once we made it to Moab we picked up some things to have for breakfast in the morning at City Market and then drove 20 more minutes to our spot for the night.
Nick lived on a street called Winona Court in Albuquerque
