He was a simple man, and any time someone made a meal and invited John to partake, he was ecstatic. Like his Hawaiian friends, when asked what is your favorite food? his answer was “Whatever is in my bowl right now.” Anything anybody made and shared delighted him.
John loved movies and board games and being with family. Like his mother, John loved a good book. Lord of the Rings was his favorite book and movie series. John was an avid reader of fantasy, history, and the Dan Brown action, adventure series. John was sworn into the Air Force on December 12, 2006 in Texas and later given a medical discharge for health reasons. Since he was still a young man, John was the first in his immediate family to die. John loved using his imagination and reading about make-believe and the supernatural, but more importantly, John was a good friend, a nephew, son, brother, and respectable man who faced challenges fearlessly. He wanted to be good. He struggled ambitiously through a life that dealt him a difficult hand, yet he persisted. Many who remember John’s happy and loving nature also mention his big smile. |
Surrounded by family, John passed from this life into the arms of friends and family who preceded him in death.
John was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and family was always important to him. Though John’s life was tragically cut short, he will always be remembered as a bright spot in our family.
