Ron Drake Ron is clearly one of the finest men I have ever met. He is a pleasure to be with, always uplifting, funny, and an all-around friend to everybody he meets. I had the good fortune of rubbing shoulders with him when I was a young man in Castle Valley. I saw the hardships and struggles faced by many, and Ron and his family were no exception. Their little trailer parked under a roof midway up the valley became a beacon of hope for what could be. The property was initially rocky, dry, and rather desolate. Ron and Pat had a vision of what it could become, and today a beautiful home, stately trees, and decorative fences greet weary travelers driving up the Castle Valley parkway. What was initially plain has become stunning. My experience with Ron shows that he is always seeking out the good in the people he meets and all his many friends. Ron has worked for the Times Independent for 42+ years. He has written weekly or more about life in Castle Valley for lots of different people under numerous circumstances, covering dozens of events. So my take on Ron is that's exactly who he is and what he does for everyone. He finds and builds the good in others and celebrates people, places and times even when it's not always easy, capturing the beauty for all of us. And Castle Valley is the better for it. We all are.
Here's to the next 42 sir. Cheers!
