Silver Lake Solace

This adventure began long before we ever reached Silver Lake Reservoir to begin the hike. The rocky road made for an exciting ride--especially for those in the back of the truck. The trail climbs 1,433 vertical ft. A bull moose and a cow crossed the trail right in front of us and hung out across the ravine. 

This hike starts a good ways past Tibble Fork reservoir up a steep and rough road. After a ride through rocks, ruts, bumps, miles, you will eventually pass Silver Lake reservoir, which is where the trail head to Silver Lake begins. walk to what appears to be a dead end. 

Steven, Carly, Devin, , , Gavin, Linda and Mathew braved this trail. We left around 7 in the evening with the expectation that we would be back home in time for a 9pm appointment for Steven. After about 2 miles of switchbacks, you see the sign for Scout Falls and leave the trail for short walk to what appears to be a dead end. Climb the roots and continue along the rocks edge 100 feet more. We barely made it to the lake by dusk. In fact, the dark had come to the point that we could not see great detail at the lake, but we made it. Devin carried Gavin in a backpack and though one of our head lamps wasn't working, we used the flashlights in our phones to make the climb down the mountain. Carly and Steven made it by moonlight and starlight was available. We met at the local In-and-Out for dinner. Good times. Silver Lake in the news.
