When I was born, there were 12 operating temples in the entire church. At the age of 19 when I served my mission, 25 temples were scattered all across the earth. Today there are more than 300 temples in operation, planned, or under construction and no end in sight. Why such an emphasis on temple building?
Years ago we thought we would like to visit all the temples around the world. That is no longer possible, but we have a renewed emphasis on attending and serving there regularly. Temple ordinances are the crowning blessings the Church has to offer. We find joy, peace, comfort, and hope with its walls.
