day 2

​We had our first health screening today!! Mostly people came in to get their eyes checked but also a few cleft pallet babies. We would check them in, have them take a vision acuity test, & then get checked by the doctor. Right now we are just doing the screenings to see what surgeries need to be done (mostly cataract) & in a few days they will be getting the surgeries. Help & proof eyewear (the company here with us that donated money to help) are covering all the surgeries! It's really amazing that some of these kids/adults literally can't see (or hardly at all) & in a few days their lives will be completely changed! Anyway, the screening lasted from 8 to 2 & then we wandered the streets for a bit & got some baked goods. I didn't know Filipinos were into bread. Lol Seriously they have so many bakery's here with so many different sweet breads & random goods, all very yummy. We then headed back to our "hotel" & swam in a cave, got fish pedicures, & just relaxed by the pool. Then we headed back out to the other side of the island to watch the sunset & eat dinner. We went to this BBQ place that legit only served chicken & rice but OMG it was the best chicken & rice I have ever had. 

Oh yeah, so there is this couple here with us from Kauai that got their trip paid for by proof eyewear to pretty much come here & kinda promote their business. It's really interesting & I don't totally understand it but basically they are insta famous & are here for proof taking pictures & being adventurous & getting paid for it.. so I get to watch the behind the scenes of their insta posts & that's kinda fun.
