Hello all!
I don't have a lot of time to write today either. Just wanted to mention on Saturday we had a really cool activity with our ward in which we pretty much just celebrated the different Italian regions and countries where people in the ward are from. You may or may not be aware that Italy is actually divided into 20 regions and each one has its own dialects, foods, culture, and traditions. In these days Italy has become more united, but still there are a lot of different traditions and things. So for this activity a member had prepared a slide show of the 17 countries and regions that are present in our ward and then throughout the presentation different people from those places would get up and talk about their place. We heard many poems and proverbs in many different dialects. We even got to here a poem read in Ukrainian, and the Nigerian members came decked out in Nigerian clothes and sang and danced to a traditional song of theirs. The last country to be presented was The United States of America. I decided to sing Amazing Grace and one of the sister missionaries played it on the piano to represent our country. Given the fact that the writer of Amazing Grace was actually from England and the song is coming from a shady background of slavery before America was even established as a country 😂 it maybe wasn't the most fitting song to represent America, but it still plays a role in our history and has a great message about the Atonement of Jesus Christ so I sang it loud and proud! Random side note, when the member was making the slide presentation he said he googled the top four foods in America and like the second one up was pizza. The Italians got a good laugh out of that one. What can ya say? That's what happens when your country's traditions are only a couple hundred years old. Speaking of food, after the presentation we all went into the other room where everyone had made food from the different places. We came in strong with brownies and the Sorelle made sugar cookies to represent America! Haha First picture is of the brownies in the making. Second picture is a random day last week when we decided to make a hefty 7-layer pasta. Anyways, that's all for now. Haha Love you all! Anziano Stucki
