Wen I Lin
It has been six years since a little girl from Taiwan came to stay with us and made a lifelong impression on our family. She arrived July 9th in SLC. We called her Weni, pronounced Wendy without the d. Her last name is Lin (Lynn). I have attached her picture. Thanks to Amy and Mom for helping arrange this.
Wen I's birthday is April 6, 2004, so she is 12-years-old now. She was 6-years-old when she came to stay with us and spoke no English--Mandarin Chinese is her native language. Emily was 10-years-old then.
The organization that helped arrange the visit to America planned some dates of interest where our family was expected to attend with Weni. They gave her an opportunity to reconnect with her asian friends and speak:
So July flew by. We were active and considered lots of things to do as a family with Wen I to make her experience memorable. (eg museum, Lagoon, Logan/Bear Lake, Park City/Deer Creek Reservoir, Lava Hot Springs, Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, or Lake Powell...)
Thought we wanted to do all these things with her to make her stay memorable and fun. Would love to compile pictures of the summer with her and write someday about all the things we did together.
It was a summer to remember.
I occasionally think about Weni and hope everything in her life has turned out for the better. She was a strong little girl and though life presented her with significant hardship, she was courageous and fought her way through.
