Hello everyone! I hope your weeks have been full of blessings and goodness, and if not, cowboy up, life is not supposed to be easy haha.
This last week was a turning point for me in my mission, well another turning point, ive had a few so far but this week was another one. We had kind of fallen in a rut of just filling our time and staying busy without accomplishing anything until this Saturday. We were blessed to have Elder Kevin Pearson and his wife come and visit us and just completely roast us all🔥. It was very much needed and very much appreciated by me. They talked about how our mission is experiencing post flood syndrome, and said that we could and should be baptizing 3 times as many people as we have been. They said a lot of really good things and I'm ridiculously motivated to be a SUPER motivated and obedient missionary. They said the difference between ordinary, and extraordinary is the little extras. And they asked us all if we DESERVE what we DESIRE. And boy do I like that haha. So expect to hear some good things coming our way because we are going to have a good week this week. we get to go to the temple (which was just rededicated this last week) this Wednesday so P-Day ends at 2 today :( but yeah! I love you all and pray for you every night, have a good week! Love Elder Robison

Well time does fly by I've been out for 8 months now! So that's crazy.
This week has been pretty average. Our days are super long, we just walk down these long country roads and knock on all the doors and occasionally find someone willing to give us the time of day. But it's fun I like just being really bold with people. My companion is really quite, I don't think he likes me that much be cause he wants to be disobedient and I don't let him so he doesn't really talk to me anymore. So that's been kinda hard but it's okay we are still hitting the grind so it's fine. The ward here in Silsbee is pretty cool everyone is pretty nice and old and they like the Missionaries so we are getting well fed. Really not much happened this week that's noteworthy. Oh are mission killed Facebook for the next 65 days to purify us haha, missionaries are dumb. Love you all sorry this is a lame one but I wanna go play basketball haha 😉 Love Elder Robison Man so this last week has been definitely the hardest week of my mission, and it's not going to get easier haha. Silsbee is complete opposite of everything I was used to, it's country roads and trailer houses. There's more churches than people and they must be pretty full because everyone has a church they go to. But really that's not why this week was so hard, it's because everyone in my district has NO faith. :( they have all basically given up, (except the sisters they're still hitting the grind but finding no success) and my companion is pretty quite most of the time. Everyone is just kind of sad here and they don't believe that they can baptise. But it really can only get better from here haha
On the bright side the ward here is really cool and nice. People are just straight up country folk who love God, George Strait, and the Missionaries (probably in that order). I'm starting to see the appeal as well, these trees and the fields here are so pretty, you drive down the 2 lane 75 mph highway and your just surrounded by trees on both sides, it's really pretty. And then there's the swamps, full of mosquitos and Mudbugs (Crawfish). Yum Let me just tell you about the food here for a sec. In Broadway, I had a lot of really good Mexican food and some tex Mex places that were 10/10. But out here in the Cajun country, I've had some great fried catfish, super good breaded and fried shrimp, we had some DANG good shrimp etofette (I can't spell), and shrimp Jambalaya. I'm in love with Cajun food gollie it's solo good. Alright but yeah the work here is pretty dead, nobody's got anyone progressing, we don't even have anyone, and the ZL's are coming down on me so this next week is going to be a grind. It's going to be good though, the best work is hard work so, I can't complain. The biggest thing that stops the missionary work here is the trains haha, we've probably spent a total of 2 hours stuck behind trains in the last week. But next time that happens, we will probably roll the windows down and talk to the other people stuck in traffic. Oh and thanks for all the birthday wishes your all the best and I'm grateful to have all of you in my life. That's about it sorry I don't have too many pics this week but here you go! Elder Robison Hey so your probably wondering why my email is entitled Curtain call, well it's because I have been transferred out of Broadway, and I ended with a bang 😁
One of the coolest weeks of my mission I don't remember any of it but I do remember that the Hendrickson family got baptised!! The mom and all 3 kids got baptised and now they are all members of the church, they are the cutest kids ever and I'm so grateful that I was able to teach them before I left. I'm now in a wonderful little town called Silsbee Texas haha, I've been transferred and got called as the district leader here! It's going to be VERY different from anything I've done before, this place is full car and there are not like any people here so it's a lot different than the city. But I'm super excited! My companion seems baller and his name is Elder Kennach, he's from Seattle area of Washington and we are going to be awesome I think. That's really about it for now thanks for all the birthday wishes and the present you are all the best! Here are some pics! Elder Robison P.s. I shed some tears saying goodbye to some of the members in Broadway they are LITERALLY the best people on the earth. 1 And on the first day of the 4th month, all were gathered around to hear the prophets voice. yea even in all the land were they gathered every man according to his family, yea and they were gathered in the homes, and in their meetinghouses and they did gather to hear the will of the lord concerning the people.
2 And lo the will of the lord concerning the people was proclaimed among them from the mouth of the prophet. Yea and the voice of the prophet was heard all across the land. And behold the prophet proclaimed good tidings among the people, who were of the church of christ, for there was much reason for the people of Christ to rejoice at this time. Yea and great and marvelous things did the prophet teach the people, many of which cannot be written at this time. But it sufficeth me to say that the spirit of the lord fell upon the people, and all who were present, yea even all who sustained the prophet, were filled with the spirit of God. 3 And it came to pass that the elders of the church rejoiced when the news was brought forth of the reorganization of the priesthood quorums. Yeah and all did rejoice because the work of the lord was hastening among his people, and my joy is full concerning this gathering of the church. 4 Now, my beloved brethren, I would exhort you to not forget the things which were spoken on this occasion. And if ye shall do the things which the lord has commanded us, then will our joy be full, and we will not just be hearers of the word, but doers as well. 5 And from this time forth the people of the church no longer were slothful in their calling to minister to every man, but were bold and magnified their calling for the love of God was upon them, and they did only things which were pleasing unto him from this time henceforth till the coming again of the Son of God. 6 And thus ended the era of home and visiting teaching among the people of the church. Love Elder Robison Ps. I'm doing awesome and got to celebrate Easter with Sister Stortz and Neil (my favorite two people I've met) and got to celebrate with cascarones confetti eggs. Basically they just fill egg shells up with confetti and you smash them on each other's head. 🤕😁 it was fun! We watched conference at the church and man was that a memorable conference. I'm going to have to study some of those talks over and over again to grasp all of it. But yeah other than that not much has happened! Oh I got to do some more service and replace some light switches and outlets and stuff, what a blessing it's been to kinda know how to rebuild someone's house because people here need it haha. Transfers are this next week so I'll probably be shipped off to another area. I'm pretty excited to leave haha I love it here but I feel like I've been here for a really long time. But I'm finishing off this transfer with some baptisms this weekend so let's pray it all works out! Love you all! Elder Robison Pps. Banana nut cheerios are LITERALLY the best cereal ever! |
