Let's go over the highlights of this last week:
-i ate like 19 bananas and they are way cheap here -we had our first investigator baptism 🤽♂️ -we got to bike in heavy HEAVY rain -we met this young couple who are having a baby and want to be baptised! -I found a pristine ugly Christmas sweater at the thrift shop I think that about sums it up! Service is basically coming to an end in Broadway, it didn't get hit that bad and if they haven't been worked on by now then the houses need to be torn down because of mold. Crazy huh? Companion relations are kind of on the fritz right now, I'd say we were in defcon 3 as far as hostility goes. Elder Lyle is very very stressed about everything and he likes to complain and I like to make jokes and have fun so theres been some turmoil in this marriage but as the good book says, "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me" so thats my problem free philosophy. Gerald got baptised! We had to jump through a lot of hoops to get him there but he did it! He snapped his patella tendon Friday an hour before his baptismal interview with the mission President, and he still came sweating bullets from all the pain he was in. He said, "oh this is more important but I'm going to the emergency room as soon as we are done" so that was crazy. Then when he got baptised I had to hold his leg in the water while brother Ferrin baptised him so that it didn't bend or anything. And the baptismal suit was too small for him but he squoze in it anyway for the baptism. What a trooper. So we've saved one soul so far! Biking has been pretty sucky I'm not gonna lie haha. It's still 90 degrees here and humid as can be so the freezing weather y'all are having in Payson sounds wonderful. One glorious day it decided to rain all day really hard and we HAD to get to the lesson with Gerald so we just sucked it up and biked there. We were soaked from head to toe during the lesson but it was all good until we started coming back home. The water at this point flooded up over the sidewalks so we couldn't see where we were biking and poor Elder Lyle was in the front and for some reason the sidewalk disappeared and he flew over his handle bars landing in the floodwater on his back. He was okay thankfully but he popped his front tube and bent the rim pretty bad so we had to wait for a ride because we were like 5 miles from our apartment. So that was good times We are starting to work with this nice Cuban guy and his girlfriend who are 9 months pregnant and just got kicked out of there place, which was a drug house, and are starting on the path towards eternal salvation! So that's exciting I'm sure you'll hear more about them. Well you are all great and I love and miss you all. Email me and send plenty of pictures! -Elder Robison

Hello family and friends! This last week has been pretty nuts 🥜 My first plane ride was pretty uneventful, it was cool when we were taking off and banking and stuff but I wish I was driving it would have been more fun 😁 when we landed in Houston President Hewlett came and picked us up in this all black leather interior party bus 🚍 so that was pretty cool! Apparently the flood took out 22 mission cars including the big van they used to use to pick up missionaries so we got to rent a party bus. The flood also took out all of our bikes and our driving records so if mom or dad could go to the DMV sometime and see if you can request my driving record for me that would be cool. I don't know if they will let someone other than me get my record but if you could ask I would appreciate it.
We took the party bus to the Kingwood stake center because Hurricane Harvey also killed the mission home and office and a bunch of missionaries apartments so we had a giant mission conference in the stake center. During the conference they told us some areas would continue doing full time service while others would return to normal proselyting with service on Wednesdays Saturdays and Sundays. Then I got assigned my trainer! His name is Elder Lyle he's from Arizona and he's been here a year. We get along pretty well for the most part except he likes One Direction and he sings it all the time, also he doesn't do dishes so that's been fun. Speaking of dishes after we got assigned our new comps we got a ride to our apartment, a beautiful place called del Mar apartments. And by beautiful I mean pretty ghetto and a little moldy. Me and Elder Lyle are opening up a brand new area in South Broudway and the apartment we inherited has been vacant for 6 months and whoever was in it before left all of there nasty food in the fridge so that night we cleaned the whole place before bed. The next day we got some groceries because we had zero food and we ended up only buying eggs, cheese, milk, tortillas, and onions because Elder Lyle is pretty stingy with his missionary fund. I might have to go all Babylon up in here so I can get some fruit and veggies. So for the last 7 days we have only eaten eggs and tortillas and cheese for all 3 meals everyday. So I'm super grateful for Pday today when I can buy some bananas 🍌 Since we have been opening up a new area we started from scratch with investigators so we have only found a couple who are keeping their commitments so far. One of them is named G----- he is a super good guy and wants to change his life to come closer to God. He owns his own business and he only has to work 5 months out of the year so the other 7 he just vacations and reads the scriptures. We found him on Tuesday and he's on date to be baptised this Saturday! But as far as really interested progressing investigators hes the only one so far. So we don't have a car and our area is about 48 square miles of big city suburb so we are on our bikes a lot. Needless to say I've been sweating buckets everyday but it's alright people don't seem to care. Since my new bike I bought got destroyed in the flood I had to borrow another elders until a replacement came. But my new one came yesterday and it's super sweet so I'm excited for that. Well that's way more information than I'm sure any of you read so I'll end now. My new address is 10909 Gulf Freeway Apt 1203 Houston Texas 77034, mom can you send me a few more short sleeve shirts? Like 3 or 4 and if they had pockets that would be sweet. Thanks! Love you all! |
