get over it

Hey everybody I've got lots of pictures for you this week so I'll just give you the highlights of the week.

So recently a new member was put in charge of the meal calender for feeding the missionaries so we have been getting fed a lot more! So that's awesome, people like to take us out to eat which is cool we got to go to Golden Corral on Thursday which was 10/10 except in the middle of trying to get some turkey this big tall bald dude comes up to me hands me a card and proceeds to tell me why he left the "mormon" church. I just smiled and said alright sir have a good day and threw the card in the trash. People are crazy and believe everything Satan tells them, as he was leaving he said "Jesus died for you guys, and mormons dont go to heaven."  He's gonna be in real shock when he realises what he's doing and snaps out of it. So that was cool that's the first time I've really been anti'd. The rest of the meal was great though I'd highly recommend Golden Corral.

After dinner that night we went and contacted this 4 month old book of Mormon referral and the guy was like 21 and a little slow in the head/maybe a little stoned. but he invited us right in and said wait let me go get my friend he's a Christian. So pretty soon this other homie comes in (also on cloud 9) and says "so y'all are followers of Jesus Christ right?" And we said yea and they were all "that's tight man I freakin love Jesus Christ! I get the chills and feel real good every time  I talk about him." We love to hear that as missionaries so we taught them the restoration and they were mind blown. We ended by teaching them how to pray and bless their souls they read straight from the pamphlet when praying it was so funny. So they were feeling really solid and we had a return appointment the next day with them but then the next morning at like 4:30 we get a text from them that basically said we are gonna have to push back our appointment a little their friend invited them to go to Hawaii with him and they are getting on the plane right now. Man Satan works quickly. But hopefully they will come back from Hawaii one of these days and we will be able to talk to them again.

Also this week Elder Lyle made a new friend named Phideoux, he's Cajun. Also he's a cat, he was just chilling outside our apartment so we brought him in and he stayed for awhile, drank some water, laid around. Hes a good cat but we kicked him out later and the next day we were coming back from our appointment and he was back on our doorstep. He must've liked us so Elder Lyle was scratching him and out of no were Phideoux freaks out and scratches elder Lyles arm pretty good. So Phideoux isn't welcome in our apartment anymore.

Sunday night we had a dinner appointment with this super funny lady and her son in our ward. They came and picked us up and on the way to her place she stopped at KFC and bought us dinner hahaha. We were like wait are we buying food on the Sabbath and she told us to get over it and just do it. So we told her we don't approve of this so she proceeded to buy a bucket of chicken for us and we were off on our way. That was an interesting dinner haha but it's okay. For dessert we roasted some Smores and had ice cream.... good times.

It was actually pretty cold this last week, we had a "cold front" come in and it got down to like 45 degrees at night I think.. I actually wore a sweater for a few minutes crazy huh!? But it's gone and back up to 80 degrees now so back to the short sleeves.

Well I think that's about it for this one have a good Halloween everybody!

So transfers are today but we are staying here! Surprise surprise haha but it's a good thing since I'm just starting to get to know people's names. 👍 this one's gonna be kinda short but here are some highlights of the week

We got fed at this place called Kelly's Country Cooking and had some good southern food (chicken fried steak, taters, green beans) and on the way out this dude yelled at us, "WOOHOO you guys ROCK! Get out there and kick some butt!!" Only he didn't say butt haha so that was cool.

Astros made it to the World series on Saturday night and everyone was watching the game during the adult sesh of stake conference 😁 it was pretty funny.

We had stake conference! It was very interesting a lot of new members and less actives spoke and there were some pretty interesting stories told over the pulpit. We got to do parking lot duty in the rain on Sunday the entire conference so we only got to watch the adult sesh Saturday night and a few talks on Sunday.

We found this guy named Robert after an appointment fell through on Wednesday. He was sitting on his windowsill in the apartment complex we call the blind side (I wanted to call it the jungle but that got over ruled) it's this ghetto complex that crazy stuff always happens at. But e started talking to Robert and he listened to our message and we prayed and he told us he was just diagnosed with sickle cell and that he really needed this message in his life, so he committed to be baptised on the 18th of November! So that's a fun little miracle we had except he has ghosted us ever since then but hopefully we Wil find him this week.

I think that's about it for this week. The church is true and I'm glad I'm out here. Love you all and keep reading the scriptures and going to church!

1. I was blessed to be allowed to drive recently. The vehicle coordinator wasn't sure if he was going to let me because of my history but he decided to and that made me very happy.

Hey everybody it's crazy to think that is the last week of my first transfer but it's here! Now only 16 transfers to go haha 😂 the work here is good we have been focusing on reactivating members because there are so many innactives here. We had some cool experiences this last week but the spiritual highlight was meeting Donald L. Hallstrom of the 70 and getting to talk with him in a personal setting.

We talked all about being children of God, and being converted to the gospel THROUGH his church, and turning to the Lord it was really good. If you haven't felt spiritually uplifted in awhile watch those talks and you will feel the spirit. I've kind of always wondered what the point of church is, besides taking the sacrament, but we have 3 or more hours of church every week because we can't stand strong without it. It can be such a spiritually uplifting and motivating experience if we just go willingly and happily.

Talking with all of these inactive families you start to notice a pattern. They've all stopped reading their scriptures and praying and in turn they lose the spirit and forget what it's like to have it with them. Its sad to see these people who used to be strong in the church forget their own testimonies and forget why we go to church in the first place. So I hope you all continue to go to church while I'm gone or else I will find you, and I will reactivate you.

We stopped by this old investigators apartment this week to see if he even existed and he opened the door and let us in. We sat down with him and there was some loose change and a pocket knife on the table and the guy was limping to sit back down. He told us he had some mental issues and couldn't take care of himself anymore and he was just now building up the courage to do something terrible. As we talked to him more his face slowly brightened and you could see the hope that this gospel can bring to people's lives. Christ died for us so that we can LIVE in him.

This really is the church the Lord has established on the earth for us to come closer to him so that we can be lifted up at the last day.

Love you all!
Elder Robison

P.S. I don't have any pictures for you this week because I got a hair cut and wow it's short. I feel like I joined the army or something.

This week we did a lot of out of the ordinary stuff! We had interviews with President Hewlett on Tuesday. So we got to drive to north Houston to do that so that was fun! And then we heard that this pizza place called Persona feeds missionaries for free and so we went and got some free pizza! Then we got to go back up to North Houston on Thursday for new missionary training which lasted like all day but was really good. I got to see my old comp Elder Child and all my other MTC buddies so that was fun.

Then Friday while we were biking to an appointment I ran right into an electrical pole and crashed pretty good 🤕 we were just cruising down the freeway feeder road (Houston doesn't have on or off ramps they just have this road that runs parallel to the freeway on both sides so that's a feeder road) and I didn't see that the pole was sticking like a foot into the sidewalk and it clipped my handlebar and sent me flying. 🛫🛬💥 I'm all good though I just ripped a hole in my favorite pants on the knee and got one of my shirts all grassy but I'm still kicking.

We were supposed to have 5 investigators at church this week but none of them came, so that was sad. We don't really have any solid investigators anymore Michaela and Xavier got an apartment just outside of our area so we had to refer them to the other elders, and nobody else really seems to care. So we are thinking of fun ways we can get people interested and get innactives reactivated like basketball night and we are planning a BBQ and we are gonna take brownies to families and give them one plate for them and another plate for them to give to a non member family and tell them about the church.

Oh also we got to go through downtown on Thursday on the way back from the LDS family services center and got to see all the skyscrapers and stuff from the car. It was really cool and makes me want to go to New York or something.
Me and Elder Lyle are doing good we have a lot of fun. We have been doing movie nights every once in awhile where we eat some blue bell ice cream and watch a church film so that's been fun!

Its still so hot here guys I don't think you understand. You know how usually it gets colder as winter gets closer? Yeah that doesn't happen here it's still over 90 degrees and humid everyday. I keep looking at the weather in Payson and I'm so jealous of you guys. I would run into another electric pole on purpose if it would make it 40 degrees here.

Well I think that's about it everyone love you all!
Y'all be blessed

Babies, General Conference, and Car Shares

Let me just start out by apologizing for not having the most entertaining emails in the world, 😞i told myself that when i got out here i would still try and be my good ol funny self but its hard to crack jokes via email... so sorry ill keep trying.

Alright lets see, what happened this week, we had a stake mission conference that was all about activating Melchizedeck priesthood holders who aren't active. I never really thought how big of a deal it is that there is a worthy priesthood holder at the head of every househould because there always was one in my home but IT IS A BIG DEAL. The family is central to the Plan of Salvation and the Priesthood holder at the head of the family it in charge of directing his family to salvation☀️.... kind of a big charge so good luck all you dads out there :)

So our main focus investigators Xavier and Michaela had their baby on Sunday after the first sesh of conference👪🏻! I haven't seen him yet but they named him Halo and hes going to be a big help in helping them overcome their WOW addictions and getting them baptised and to the temple. We gave them each a blessing on Saturday because they were really stressed out about everything and they started balling because they felt the peace of the spirit. I love being able to show people how our Heavenly Father can bless their lives.

General Conference was awesome! i only nodded off for about 3 minutes so its a new record for me💩! So many good talks, im going to have a lot of studying to do over the next 6 months on those talks. I like hearing all of the stories of people who turn to the gospel when they go through hard times... yeah good stuff.

We have been blessed as missionaries with good health so that we can travel to our appointments on our bikes🚴‍♂️🚴🏿‍♂️, which is perfectly fine and we have biked a LOT here, like at least 20 miles a day. But the Lord has also blessed us with the ability to mash a gas pedal and get to our appointments in 10 minutes instead of 40 minutes. We now have the oppurtunity to share one such gas pedal with the other group of Elders in our district so every 3 days we get to enjoy the bliss and joy of driving before we are thrown back into the brutal grind of hitting the streets on the good ol bikes. Its crazy to see how much more we can get done in one day with a car so its been nice to enjoy that blessing a little over this last week.

Oh another thing we are trying to do is get tight with the young men in the ward because they have a lot of nonmember friends. Ive always thought i was a pretty likable guy but man they really dont like us very much haha.😔 We keep trying to play basketball with them and do scout activities and stuff with them but they always give us this look like "who let these guys here." We have been trying really hard to get referrals from members and get member present lessons and stuff but everyone is scared of missionary work. I realise now how bad we as members are at telling people about the gospel, yeah it is sometimes weird but what do you have to lose? Yeah maybe this person will think your crazy but God thinks your awesome and hes cheering you on so as Shia Lebouf would say "Just do it".
Well i think thats about it
Hope yall have a blessed week
